CHALLENGING weather hit all gooseberry growers this year.
Over Peover Gooseberry Show had far fewer entrants at their annual event at The Dog.
Secretary Charlie Montaldo said: “The weather has troubled us all.

“Two of our members didn’t have anything to show.
“The hot weather during May and June followed by the torrential rain in July really hindered our members’ strategies.
“However, most of our members were able to submit something, but on the whole, berries were down.”
Richard Okill was won the trophy for Premier Berry, the heaviest overall.
Members donated £250 to Kidney Care UK.
