A FAULTY lighting mast is believed to have caused a smoke-logged building in Wilmslow.

Firefighters were called to a commercial building on Hawthorn Grove shortly before 11am on Tuesday morning.

The property was evacuated as firefighters used a high pressure fan to clear the smoke.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “A fault in a lighting mast is believed to have been the cause of a room in a commercial building filling with smoke.”

Two fire engines from Wilmslow and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service dealt with the incident.
