A NEW Knutsford restaurant is celebrating the birth of poet Robert Burns.

Linden Stores is hosting a Burns night on Thursday, January 25, the anniversary of the poet’s birthday.

Owners chef Chris Boustead and partner Laura Christie, a wine connoisseur, have opened a bistro and wine bar on Minshull Street.

The couple have 25 years of experience in hospitality, having run several restaurants together, and moved from London to Knutsford with son Ollie, to be closer to family and friends.

Guests will be served a selection of Scottish-inspired canapes with a guided whiskey tasting on arrival from 6pm.

Savoury dishes will include rumpledethump croquettes, tattie scone and hogs pudding and beetroot cured smoked Scottish salmon.

For desert, the restaurant will be serving the modern Scottish classic, the deep fried Mars bar.
