IMAGINATIVE photographers of all ages have enjoyed taking on a challenge.

Mid Cheshire Community Rail Partnership mounted a photography competition during the school holidays.

The brief was that all pictures must be taken through a train window, from a platform or train.

And photographs had to be captured on the Mid Cheshire Railway line, anywhere on stations from Manchester to Chester via Altrincham.

The competition aimed to encourage people of all ages to explore the cities, towns, attractions, and countryside along the route.

Winners of this summer’s ‘Through the Train Window’ competition have been announced.

John Horsley, an experienced amateur photographer, and member of Knutsford Photography Society judged the entries.

Sarah Muir, community rail officer for Mid Cheshire Community Rail Partnership, said: “This was the second time we have run this competition.

“The quality of the entries was fantastic with the photos capturing the different landscapes and buildings you can see along the mid Cheshire railway line.

“A massive thanks, once again, to John Horsley who gave up his spare time to judge the winners.

“We appreciate it and could not do it without him”.

Ava Boylan, 10, won the five to 12 year category and received. Go Ape tickets at Delamere Forest Jamee Jones, 17, was the winner of the 12 to 18 year category.

His prize is a family ticket for Northern Rail and four vouchers for Planet Ice in Altrincham David Sutton won the 18 plus age group with a prize of two free adult tickets for West Coast Main Line.

Sarah Muir added: “The prizes were fantastic and we extend our thanks, especially to West Coast Main Line, Northern Rail and John Horsley.”
