A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after a crash in Wilmslow.

A 49-year-old man was rescued by firefighters after a white Range Rover he was driving overturned and careered down an embankment on Styal Road.

The incident happened at around 11.15pm last night, Thursday.

Police, fire and paramedics attended the scene.

Firefighters removed the casualty, trapped in water,  and handed him over to paramedics.

He was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “The 49-year-old man from Manchester was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and theft of a motor vehicle."

The man has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
