A DRAMATIC rescue was mounted to reach a man trapped in a car careered down an embankment.

The vehicle left Styal Road in Wilmslow shortly after 11pm last night, Thursday and ended up in shallow water.

Firefighters removed the casualty from the car and handed him over to paramedics.

The man, in his 40s, was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters were called to an incident where a car had left the road and had fallen down an embankment into shallow water below.

“One casualty was removed from the vehicle and passed into the care of paramedics.”

A spokesman for North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust said: “We were called to an RTC in which a vehicle was in the water and dispatched an ambulance and rapid response vehicle to attend.

“Our clinicians treated a male in their 40s, who had minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to Wythenshawe Hospital.”
