A SEVENTEENTH century pub in the heart of Knutsford is celebrating after receiving prestigious award.

The 350-year-old Rose and Crown has been named 2023 Pub of the Season by the local branch of the Real Ale Society CAMRA.

General manager Kieran Dean and assistant general manager Zara Malkin received a framed certificate at a special presentation, as the pub is festooned in coronation bunting.

Owner Shirley Brown, who runs the King Street pub with husband, Dave, said: “I would like to say how proud Dave, myself and the team are to receive this award.

The black and white half timbered style pub with slanting gable dates back to 1647.

The former coaching inn has become a popular independent run pub, restaurant and B&B with nine guest rooms.
