A NEW food and drink festival is being launched in Knutsford.

The gastronomic celebration will be held on Saturday, August 13, and follows the success of the inaugural al fresco dining event introduced last summer.

Taster sessions and master classes will be held in bars, restaurants, cafes and pubs across the town.

A special Taste Knutsford walking food tour will also be available to give visitors a real taste of local hospitality.

An indoor market will be held at St John’s Church on Church Hill, from 11am to 5pm, offering the finest food and drink.

A selection of speciality bakes, cheeses, pies, bottled wines and other artisan products will be on dale.

An outdoor market will run on Silk Mill Street from 12 noon to 7pm featuring an array of local street food traders.

Tasty dishes on offer will include Mexican specialities, sausages, southern barbecue, pizza and Thai.

Warm cookies, churros, crepes, plus a selection of local beer, wine and cocktails will also be available.

Visitors will be able to relax in a seating area as local talented artists perform on a small stage.

Al fresco dining will return to King Street in the evening as people will be able to eat outside with family and friends.

Princess Street and Minshull Street will host alfresco dining on Friday evening, August 12.

Alex Brown, events officer at Knutsford Town Council, said: “We are really excited to bring the first food and drink festival to Knutsford this summer.

“Knutsford is home to a fantastic selection of hospitality businesses and traders.

“We hope this event will showcase and support this important trade which has faced hard times over the last couple of years.”
