THE despicable, revolting actions of Melissa Darbyshire are beyond contempt, as are those of any drink driver, especially one who fled the scene and engaged expensive solicitors to try to get her off the hook.

It is simply unbelievable that anyone has not got the message that drink driving is not and will never be, ok in our society.

Norway banned all alcohol for drivers, over 40 years ago, which is the only solution to this stain on UK society, where an average of 940 people are killed by drink drivers every year for the past 25 years.

It is high time the law was changed to reflect the fact that it is never safe to drive when you have been drinking, even a pint of beer can slow your reactions down, and we as society should always say no to alcohol and driving, no matter how well anyone thinks they can take their drink.

The answer is always no.

My condolences go to the family of Mr Chlap who, as you say, will have to live with this forever, while Ms Darbyshire has only a few years in prison and will still have her family when she comes out.
