IT’S now two years since the Brexit referendum and the realities have become clear. There won’t be any extra money for the NHS and the number of EU nurses applying to work in the UK has fallen by 89 per cent. Brexit has already cost our economy £300m a week.
And the prospect of a hard border in Ireland if we are outside of the single market or customs union is a reckless gamble with peace. None of this was on the ballot paper.
Most crucially, we are putting up a wall between us and our neighbours in Europe. Climate change and tackling inequality are global challenges and we must work together to solve them. That’s why the Green Party argues that a public vote on the final terms of Brexit is necessary. A democracy should be free to change its mind.
