THE letter from P King, about the illegal turns into King Street from Minshull Street, suggests that this practice mitigates congestion in Queen Street and King Street.
I cannot figure out how flouting road signs at this junction can help reduce congestion in Queen Street, a street that has cars parked on both sides all day and runs from Manchester Road to George Street and thence to Tatton Street.
Is it possible that P King is confusing Queen Street and Princess Street?
As for reducing congestion in King Street, I have had ‘incidents’ at the Minshull Street junction when driving legally along King Street.
On one occasion I had to stop to allow the illegal practice to be completed.
Fortunately the car behind was not tailgating.
I do not think that we should have a special Knutsford Highway Code.
In the Manchester Highway Code, red lights are optional.
