SHORTLY after coming to Cheshire in 1970, I was having a drink in our local with a well respected member of the village.

Our conversation turned to politics and I was informed that in the Knutsford area the colour of politics was forever blue.

In fact, I was told that you could put up a teddy for the Conservatives and as long as it wore a blue rosette it would be voted in. Well times have certainly changed. It’s the Tatton constituents who have now been stuffed.
