AS a pedestrian I occasionally have to step aside for irresponsible cyclists riding on the pavement, or going too fast on the footpaths across the Moor.

So I would like to suggest all cyclists are banned completely on Mondays and Wednesdays.

I also find it off-putting when I am eating out and, on rare occasions, my meal is spoilt by inconsiderate parents who do not control their children’s behaviour.

So I suggest all children should be banned from eating establishments on Saturdays and Sundays.

These suggestions are no more ludicrous than that of your correspondent who thinks all dogs should be banned from Tatton Park on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays because of the behaviour of a small minority of dogs and their owners.

I have been walking in the park for over 30 years and in my experience most dog walkers in Tatton are responsible individuals who have respect for other park users.

Please do not blame us all for the behaviour of a few.

As a dog owner myself, I understand the concern over dog faeces and discarded poo bags and I am concerned that this problem may get worse now that Tatton has removed most of the waste bins from around the park.

As for pedestrians not contributing financially, I would just like to remind your correspondent that Tatton is run by, and partially funded by, Cheshire East. So all local residents contribute to its upkeep through their council tax.
