I DISAGREE with Sam Corcoran’s suggestion in last week’s Guardian that Cheshire East Council’s pension fund should sell oil and gas shares.

His ‘facts’ are based on aims, wishful thinking and dubious extrapolations which, with Mark Carney’s opaque Delphic forecast, reach the wrong conclusion.

Oil and gas will be a necessary and valuable part of the world economy for centuries to come.

Shell and BP in particular are the highest dividend payers on the stock market and benefit CEC’s pensioners considerably.

By the way, I think we should get cracking fracking.
