I HAVE worked hard to alert this community to the proposals of our Knutsford War Memorial being sold as a “development opportunity”.
Knutsford War Memorial Hospital was built as our war memorial and our public hospital, to serve the needs of the community which paid for it, and the covenant placed on the land donated by Cuthbert Leicester Warren.
The building and its land should never have been considered for sale by the NHS, or for purchase by British Red Cross, but should have been returned to the community, so that it could remain, in perpetuity, in the service of that community.
I am asking that the Knutsford community, get together, and re-acquire it to place into a community trust.
Knutsford is not a poor area, and has the relevant expertise, in both organising and fundraising, should it have the wish to make a community trust.
Will all interested parties please contact me?
I would be very happy to act as conduit for the setting up of a community trust.
With Lions, Rotary, Round Table, Masons, WI, and other benevolent clubs, landowners, and businesses, all operating within this small area, we could very readily help our own community.
