I RECENTLY spent two weeks in Goostrey visiting my mother, and feel compelled to write about my driving experience along your beautiful country roads.

I live in Norway where much lower speed limits apply on our roads. Our motorways only have a maximum speed of 56 mph!

You can therefore understand my horror at the speed limits on your country roads and I was constantly hounded by drivers behind me to go faster and I am amazed that I wasn’t involved in an accident or a witness to one. Most of the roads around your area are extremely narrow.

So imagine my disgust, then, when I encountered the carnage inflicted on the wildlife on these back roads from Goostrey to Macclesfield and into Holmes Chapel.

In the space of one week, I counted four dead pheasants, two foxes, and a badger. The pheasants I had encountered over those two weeks all managed to cross the roads safely, only to be hit by the mindless drivers behind me, with an IQ of 10.

The roads and lanes around your beautiful village need to be kept safe from these selfish drivers.
