I WAS told some time ago that there were photos of my father, who played bowls years ago, on the walls of the Conservative Club.

Have you any idea where that kind of memorabilia will now be housed?

If the Conservative Club members are not interested in these photographs, I would like to retrieve them.

I’m sad about that building becoming a furniture store. I spent many happy times there as a young girl, at New Year’s Eve dances for instance.

Then I’m also sad about the Town Hall, not being the Town Hall anymore.

As a child I danced on a stage upstairs, and the ground floor was occupied by the Americans during the Second World War WW2.

Also have you seen the movie Patton? Filmed in 1970, George C Scott played the part of General Patton, and, in the movie, stood outside our Town Hall addressing the crowd.

Now it’s going to be a restaurant, and we all know we need another one those, in our what was once a small peaceful town, the town where I was born.
