EDUCATION, especially schools, is a very important matter for Knutsford.

I guess most of us came into the area or stayed in the area to raise our families having researched the availability and quality of schools.

It has been public knowledge since 2011 that primary schools in the area are filling to capacity and extra land is needed for expansion should development go ahead in the town.

I can now bring you very exciting news about a new proposal.

The costs of education provision in Africa are way below what we need here and land is plentiful.

It has been calculated that primary-school places can be provided on a boarding basis at a lower cost than normal daytime primary here.

Moreover, the boarding option gives parents what they want — wrap-around care not just 8am until late but 24/7.

Summer schools may be available so there is a seamless transition throughout the years.

Primary schools that believe in a global education can make it a reality.

Politicians will be delivering on their commitment to overseas aid and shaking up the state-school sector.

I have commissioned a feasibility study and set up a steering group of like-minded professionals.

I hope to bring you more news next term.
