A BLEAK and depressing picture of the poor service of care by some GP Surgeries throughout the country has been widely publicised in recent days.

I am an 87-year-old widow, without close family, and came to live in Knutsford more than 20 years ago when I was recommended to register with the Toft Road Surgery.

Over the ensuing years I have come to realise just how fortunate we are in Knutsford to have the benefit of this caring medical practice and back-up service, including the facilities available at the Cottage Hospital.

During my time here I have had varying health problems, including an emergency which was dealt with promptly, and I have always received the unfailing attention of all the doctors and nurses at the Toft Road Surgery, providing me with expert help, support and kindness.

In the wilderness of criticism regarding the inadequacies of the National Health Service as a whole, it is heart warming, particularly for an elderly person like myself, to find a medical practice devoted to providing the best possible care for their patients.
