WELL done Knutsford Academy! I wanted to write to express my enjoyment of the recent performance evening at Knutsford Academy Lower School.
I have attended many performances of musicals at the school which have always been of an exceptionally high standard, but last week’s programme was something of a departure, featuring a combination of Shakespeare, dance and music, and food.
It proved to be a great evening. We were treated to dance from groups, pairs and individuals, including the school’s new all boys’ year 7 and year 8 dance group “Short Back and Sides”, what a brilliant way to get boys into dance.
The drama group pulled off an excellent, abridged version of Macbeth, using minimal costume but the original Shakespearean language. And as a clever device, the after-school cooking club “Crumbs” provided food for the audience during the banqueting scene.
There were individual and group musical performances from a wide variety of musical genres. Even the art department was included in the showcase, as their posters decorated the stage. It was a successful and imaginative evening. My only complaint is a lack of publicity around the town as I feel it would have shown off our school, and our town’s hard-working teenagers to a great advantage.
