A VOLUNTEER group spends hours upon hours making sure the town looks beautiful for residents, visitors and tourists.

They weed baskets, change plants on a seasonal basis and plant seeds in a meadow to make Knutsford’s open spaces look attractive.

Yet someone thinks it is okay to steal plants from the planters on Toft Road outside the Curzon Cinema.

This is not the first time this has happened to the dedicated volunteers that make up Knutsford in Bloom.

Hours are spent on a weekly basis yet someone thinks it is perfectly fine to rip up the flowers and take them for themselves.

If you know any information about the thefts the Guardian urges readers to pass on the information to the police via the 101 number.

KNUTSFORD’S Local Plan was approved by Cheshire East Council at a lengthy meeting on Friday evening.

This was after its strategic planning board discussed the matter at length in a meeting held just two days before.

It doesn’t bring up many surprises – read page five for more on it – but Macclesfield councillor Brendan Murphy warned the plan meant turning Cheshire East into a ‘urban sprawl’.

He said turning Cheshire East into a ‘metropolis’ was not what the borough’s residents wanted. If you agree with Clr Murphy contact the Guardian using our details on page 2.

Only time will tell if Clr Murphy’s point is valid.
