KNUTSFORD FC will conclude a busy August with a trip to Golborne Sports on Saturday, kick-off 2pm.

Reds are currently holding down second place in Cheshire Football League One, five points behind leaders Upton JFC (Chester).

They have played three matches since the Guardian went to press last week, winning two and losing one.

Jimmy Woodward hit the mark twice and Greg Mathers added another in a 3-1 win at Cheadle Heath Nomads Reserves.

They were beaten 2-0 at home by Vulcan on Saturday, while last Wednesday they were 3-0 victors at Bollington Town with Charlie Sheldon, Brad West and Charlie Rodick were on target.

Meanwhile in the Premier Division, Egerton fell 3-2 at home to Poynton on Saturday following a 3-2 home win against Whaley Bridge Athletic last Wednesday.

The Yellows will head to Lostock Gralam on Saturday, kick-off 2pm.

CRICKET:

Alderley Edge lead by 24 points at the top of the Cheshire County Cricket League Premier Division.

At the weekend they won by 54 runs at home to Nantwich in a high-scoring game which produced 463 runs.

Toft outclassed Oxton by 124 runs, with Jimmy Lomas scoring a key 51 at number nine.

Mobberley did well to beat Cheadle Hulme by 51 runs in Division Two, Sohaib Butt enjoying a return of 6-44 as Hulme were dismissed for 71.
