WHILE the league might be finished, there were still two competitions to be decided this week in the Knutsford and District Snooker League - the finals of the Team Knockout Cup and the TC Jay Trophy.

The Team KO final pitted last year’s league winners Shaw Heath against this year’s champions Tatton A, and it was Shaw Heath who put this season’s disappointing league campaign behind them with a dominant victory.

Adam Griffiths and Shaun Brearly were the star players on the night – Adam scoring 103 and Shaun 98 to help Shaw Heath to a 434–312 victory.

The following night saw the TC Jay Trophy final and Shaw Heath and Tatton A were again represented, with Griffiths up against Pete Blain.

Both players are in only their second season in the league and both have been excellent additions.

Blain had earlier beaten Mobberley’s Adam McNeil 2-0 aided by a fine 62 break in the second frame.

The final promised to be a high quality affair and it didn’t disappoint with Griffiths taking the first frame with a brilliant 27 clearance.

Blain won the second frame thanks to a 32 break and then moved into the lead in the final frame with a superb 51 break.

Griffiths fought back though and looked to be clearing the colours on the way to victory before a surprising missed blue let Blain in to take the frame and seal his first individual title in the KADASL – surely the first of many.

Blain can add the TC Jay Trophy to his league winners' title to top off a successful season.

Despite his loss it has still been a fine season for Griffiths with silverware in the 6 Reds Trophy, Parkers Removals Champions Trophy and Team KO Cup as well as reaching the TC Jay final and Rotary Cup finals.

He also holds the highest league and competition breaks.
