TOFT officials described Saturday’s display against Nantwich as “a very bad day at the office.”

The then ECB Premier League leaders Toft collapsed to 124 all out and the Dabbers had few issues in finishing the job.

New leaders Timperley will be Knutsford’s next opponents when they aim to bounce back to winning ways on Saturday.

Upon losing the toss, The Booths Park men were asked to bat first and at 35-0 off 10 overs had a good foundation on which to build.

However, the innings then turned into a procession of wickets falling and it was only number eight Andrew Jackson who showed any resolve, scoring 43 as Toft crumbled to 124 all out.

In reply, despite an early wicket for Jackson, the visitors slowly accumulated runs to reach the small target for the loss of two wickets, meaning Toft did not collect a single point for their efforts.

Toft’s seconds fared much better in their trip to Nantwich, who elected to bat first.

Despite losing an early wicket to Jonathan Leggett (1-32 off 11) – and a number of dropped catches – they progressed to 237-6 with Nigel Muirhead being the leading wicket taker with 2-38.

In reply, however, Toft soon got into their stride.

Despite losing Chris Drummond, Edward Stubbs and Scott Craig came together to put on a 145 second-wicket partnership.

Stubbs fell for a magnificent 118 – his third century of the season.

That left Ewan Williams (27no in 15 balls) and Craig (80no) to take Paul Ashley’s side over the line and secure their fifth win in seven games.

They head to Timperley on Saturday.
