Knutsford 10-0 Bowdon 3rd 0

TWO players scored hat-tricks as Knutsford signed off for the season in style at the expense of a youthful opponent.

The Black Knights, promoted at the end of last term, finish the current campaign fourth in the North West Men’s League top-flight as a result.

They did not look back from the moment outgoing captain Dave Price converted from a short corner.

A second goal soon followed when Mat Hodge, playing in a deeper role, timed a pass for Gary Brown who found the net.

Goalkeeper Tom Wright had little to do at the other end, and a well-drilled defence in front of him prevented Bowdon from having a glimpse of goal.

Player-coach Simon Trenbirth succumbed to a hamstring injury, but it did not change the pattern of play.

Jonny Price added to the home team’s lead in the second half when he deflected in from a short corner for the third time in as many weeks.

Sam Bowker and Tom Lewis then added their names to a list of scorers at the floodgates opened.

Lewis bagged a second before Bowker and then Price both completed personal trebles as Knutsford reached double-figures.

Only champions Liverpool Sefton have scored more often.

Price reflected: “That was probably our most complete performance.

“We moved the ball around with pace, but the most satisfying thing for me was the way in which our guys selflessly set each other up.”

Elsewhere, wins for Keswick and Urmston prevented his side finishing second.
