KNUTSFORD are scheduled to visit the Cheshire League top flight’s most generous hosts this weekend.

Reds, whose scheduled clash with Malpas was postponed last Saturday, resume their pursuit of Premier Division leaders Congleton Vale by visiting Garswood – champions two years ago.

However the Wigan outfit have struggled on home turf this term, collecting only five points from eight games.

And the men from Manchester Road can travel with confidence; they have won on four of their past five visits.

Scott Dignan’s side were boosted too by a 1-0 victory at Greenalls last time out, when Ebbie Rezayan’s second-half goal helped erase a painful memory of exiting the Cheshire FA Amateur Cup the previous week.

“It was a big three points for us at a place where they’re often hard to find,” said chairman Jimmy Evans.

“We were all hugely disappointed to lose the cup game in the manner we did, but Scott deserves credit for making brave decisions to change how we set up.

“He was rewarded with a collective performance based on hard work and a good attitude.”

Reds will start Saturday’s contest two points adrift of first place, but with three games in hand.

Third-placed Whaley Bridge host Rylands, currently fourth, at the same time.

Knutsford A will close a gap to second-placed Poynton in Reserve League One if they win Saturday’s meeting between the teams at Manchester Road.

A 3-2 defeat against Garswood last time out has left Reds six points adrift of their opponents this weekend.
