THE enthusiasm of a teenager who spends time helping younger players improve their game has been recognised by his peers.

Lenny Turner received the Junior of the Year prize at Knutsford Tennis Club's presentation evening.

"He's an inspiration," said head coach Mark Airey.

"Lenny has not only excelled on court himself, making a smooth transition to our senior teams, but he has become a key member of my coaching team."

He praised the 18-year-old, a student at Knutsford Academy, for his commitment to the sport.

More than 40 trophies were handed out to boys and girls who play - and practice - regularly at Mereheath Lane.

Among them were awards for Knutsford's mixed under nines and under 10s boys' sides, who were both victors in their respective sections last season in the Aegon Team Tennis League.

Meanwhile the under 15s boys were runners-up to Bramhall in the Junior North East Cheshire Lawn Tennis League's top flight.

Luke Brierley was picked as the most improved junior during 2015, while Emily Ancell received the award for Mini Tennis player of the year.

Caelen Atkins took home a trophy for best under 13s team player, while Saskia Davies and Adam Smith shared the under 15s prize.

"It's great to celebrate what everybody has achieved on court," added Airey.
