JAKE Hancock continued his stunning start to the season at the crease to help Toft record a third win in four league matches on Saturday.

The Australian opener followed centuries in his past two innings with an unbeaten 72 as the Knutsford outfit cruised to a nine-wicket victory at Grappenhall.

Rob Jones (33no) was there with him after James Drummond (32) had been dismissed, taking Toft to their victory target in the 22nd over.

It leaves them 15 points clear at the Premier Division summit.

Earlier in the day, seam pair Jack Goode and Matt Cornes (3-33) bowled a combined total of 27 overs at a cost of only 44 runs.

Spinner Jimmy Lomas (3-51) contributed too as Grappers were restricted to 138 all out.

Toft, scheduled to host Brooklands last night, Tuesday in their Joseph Holt Brewery T20 group stage opener, will entertain Bramhall at Booth’s Park this weekend.

Toft’s second string had to settle for a draw at home to their Didsbury counterparts, who amassed 267-5 off 50 overs after being put in.

Stuart Stoneman (130) scored a magnificent ton, while slow bowler Nigel Muirhead took four of the five wickets to fall.

The hosts found runs difficult to come by in reply, finishing on 159-7 after opener Dave Blackburn (48) had made the biggest individual contribution at the top of the order.

On Sunday, Toft thirds beat hosts Hyde thirds by six wickets.

After winning the toss and choosing to field first, the visitors bowled out the home team for 127 with seamer Will Dunkerley (4-29) enjoying support from Joe Stanley (2-24) and Muirhead (3-36).

The same three players ensured victory with the bat, Stanley hitting a rapid unbeaten 62 – including 10 fours – while Dunkerley (15no) and Muirhead (22) chipped in too.
