ADAM Jenkinson endured a frustrating afternoon at his home circuit in the latest round of the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Championship.

The Knutsford rider secured a third top-six finish of the campaign at Oulton Park on board his Northern Escalator Installations-prepared Yamaha.

But a lack of straight-line speed left him adrift of the fastest machines on track.

“I was up against it,” he said afterwards.

“I don’t want to be battling for fourth place, but the chassis is working really well and the bike’s handling is brilliant.

“It was a bit frustrating though because the other riders had better top-end pace.”

The 30-year-old started last Monday’s race from the grid’s second row after qualifying sixth fastest.

He was in touch with the leading group at the end of the first lap, but was unable to follow a break of three riders later on.

Instead he battled for fourth spot on track with the BMWs of Luke Quigley and David Johnson before the race was stopped early following Tom Tunstall’s heavy crash.

Jenkinson was sixth at the time, the points he collected leaving him fourth in the overall standings.

He said: “I made a good start and was soon up to fourth, but I couldn’t pull a gap on Quigley or Johnson even though I was riding the wheels of the bike through the corners.

“We’re still waiting for a few parts to come through, and when they do I’m confident we can challenge for race wins.”

The series resumes at Donington Park later this month.
