Stockport 4th 5 Holmes Chapel 36
HOLMES Chapel will play Division Four South rugby next season after a 22nd straight win in all competitions secured their promotion.
They will be crowned league champions with one win from their remaining four games, but first host Division Five West leaders Prenton seconds in the Plate semi finals on Saturday.
“Saturday is a huge game and we need to turn up in the correct frame of mind for what is sure to be one of the toughest tests of the season,” said vice-captain Dan Martin.
They opened the scoring when Angus Morison crossed five minutes in.
Morison then turned provider for Jim Bowbeer, with Andy Davies adding the extras, and the Chapel onslaught continued before half time.
Tries from centre Jim Moss, winger Alex Gormley and a second for Morison gave Holmes Chapel a 31-point advantage.
Stockport’s forwards capitalised on some Chapel ill-discipline, but the visitors responded through prop Will Mitchell.
Morison and Mike Lightfoot added further scores.
