KNUTSFORD maintained their 100 per cent start to the Cheshire Alliance Division Two campaign when they won by two wickets at Frodsham on Saturday.

Zahirul Islam smashed his way 86, including an impressive 10 sixes, before he was caught out as Knutsford eased to the required total in less than 30 overs to record a fourth successive victory.

John Sheldon (29) chipped in too. Earlier, veteran newcomer Dave Molloy had claimed another five-wicket haul for the loss of 57 runs in support captain Adam Clayton in the visitors’ bowling attack.

Adnan Ghazanfar chipped in with two wickets for 24, while Sheldon and Shake Shimul claimed the others to skittle home team Frodsham for 160.

Mobberley amassed their biggest total of the term so far in the TACS Partnership Cheshire League on Saturday, only for rain to stop play against Romiley.

Overseas recruit Armand Wolmarans (56), Abdul Aqeel (44) and Nathan Wood (32) contributed to their team’s 176-7 declared before the visitors’ reply was halted in less than 10 overs.

In Division One, Disley’s date with Chelford did not start.

Ashley made it to 141 all out against Kingsley at Railway Field, where the away team’s innings was cut short by wet weather at 23-0.

Mere beat Wistaston Village by 65 runs in the Cheshire Alliance’s third tier, with wicket-keeper Joe Gates contributing 48 to their total of 102.
