TRIP to Hebden Bridge on 18th January 2015 Forty seven ramblers joined the coach for a day of fun and frolics in the snow at Hebden Bridge.

The A party started first by alighting at Hollingworth Lake. From there they followed the Rochdale Way over Benny Hill (yes, really) to reach the Pennine Way.

They followed this to Stoodley Pike before descending to Hebden Bridge having completed 13 miles with 2000ft of climbing.

The B group was led by Judith Halman. They walked to the boundary stones on Erringden Moor then through the snow covered trees of Sunderland Pasture.

After lunch they climbed to Stoodley Pike before returning to Hebden Bridge after 11 miles with 1,900ft of ascent. David Brunt led his C group via a zig zag path up the step sides of the Hebden valley to the moors above.

They passed below Stoodley Pike before returning through the woods after eight miles with 1,000ft of climbing.

The D group was led by Brian Booth.

They strolled along woodland and riverside tracks to Eastwood and back covering seven miles with 900ft of ascent.

All the leaders did a great job in leading their walks in snowy conditions very different to when they were recced.

Many thanks to them and the coach organisers for giving us all a great day out.

The next trip for Vale Royal and Knutsford Ramblers will be to Glossop on Sunday, February 1, 2015 where a full range of walks will be on offer.
