President Virginia Williamson welcomed Plumley WI members and announced that Marilyn Simpson will be the new Secretary.

The Craft group participated in a one day Oil Painting course in September, another one has been scheduled for November 13. They will be meeting on Wednesday, October 23 at 7pm to make bunting.

A theatre visit to see the Ladykillers proved to be a lovely evening and the walk in Tatton Park followed by lunch in the Courtyard was great fun.

There is a walk in Mobberley tomorrow, October 16; an outing to Oswaldtwistle Mill on November 27, and a visit to Gawsworth Hall on December 11.

Keith Vigurs was the guest speaker, he gave an informative talk on canal restoration throughout the country. Members enjoyed hearing about his time working on Bugsworth Basin and were interested in his costume exhibits including unusual items like knitted braces. Pat Wharfe gave the vote of thanks.

Lynn Barber won the competition; Margaret Hayman was the runner up. Betty Jones won the Bloom competition; Christine England was in second place.

The next meeting is on Monday, November 3 with Colin Edmondson and his talk entitled ' Northwich Salt Mining Devastation. The competition is for an unusual salt cellar. New members and guests welcome.
