ALISON Davies was the speaker at the May meeting of Jodrell Side WI. She gave an entertaining snapshot of her life rearing beef cattle and how it had led to her becoming a minor TV celebrity with appearances on shows including GMTV, Come Dine With Me and Dragons Den.
Members are busy this month as several are submitting entries for the Cheshire Show either as individuals or group efforts, fingers are crossed for them.
Goostrey Rose Day is a busy time as members provide the tea for the Rose Queen and her retinue aswell as running a stall in the field, it is all hands to the pumps for the next few weeks.
The summer season has arrived, the bowling team started it off with a fine flourish winning their last three games, well done ladies. Several outings are being planned including a rail trip to Shrewsbury in June.
The walking group is venturing into the Goyt Valley at the end of May, weather permitting, the scenery should be beautiful.
Pat Ingram, Thelma Barlow and Marion Taylor have recently been on a WI holiday to the Isle of Wight. Pat spoke of the good time that they had and showed some pictures of their exploits including one of Pat and Thelma riding in a chair lift.
Blanche Tomkys won a pretty photo frame in the raffle; Dagmar Barnes won the competition with her favourite beef recipe. The evening was rounded off by Shirley Britton reciting another amusing ditty.
