MEMBERS of Cranford Quilters had a very enjoyable evening recently with three members of Chester P’s and Q’s. They talked informally about the quilts they had brought with them and Jackie, Catriona and Debbie showed the group’s Suitcase Collection which included a group of quilts based on an Alpine theme.
Although they were all on the same subject, the varied approaches taken by the quilters; traditional, representational, modern and geometric were interesting to see. Other quilts were shown including some miniatures.
Evenings such as these are very inspiring and meeting members of other groups brings new ideas to try.
In complete contrast to the quilts from Chester, one of Cranford Quilters’ members brought a Durham quilt which was made in 1915; it can seldom have been used as it is still pure white.
On May 19 they will be learning Sashiko, the Japanese form of quilting.
Meetings are held in St. Vincent’s RC Church Hall, Tatton Street, Knutsford at 7.30 pm following refreshments.
