MY life at Granada was the topic for the April meeting at Jodrell Side WI.
Judy Popley kept members entertained with tales from behind the scenes in the early days of Granada television. She shared stories of actors who have appeared in well-known series, embellished by some amusing tales.
Josie reported on the group meeting and an SOS was given out for saving the Honey Bees with postcards available to help fundraising.
A change to the programme was announced as the July speaker is no longer available. The topic for the meeting is now ‘Camera Rolling’.
The quiz team sadly did not win the county contest but came a very reasonable sixth place, just six points behind the winners.
Josie Sykes won the Royal Memorabilia competition; Thelma Carter won the prize for the ‘Bet Lynch’ style earrings.
The plant was sent to Margaret Strong with everyone’s very best wishes and the evening was rounded off by Shirley Britton giving one of her inimitable readings.
