Henry Elsby gave a fascinating talk at the recent meeting of Crosstown WI. He talked of the success of Delamere Farm products including goats milk, cheese, yoghurt etc. The business started locally off Beggarmans Lane with two goats and a sink. It grew quickly and they moved premises to Delamere where it flourished. They now export to Europe and countries all over the world including China. It's a great success story.

PICKMERE Photographic Society’s summer competition, on August 31 at Pickmere Funday by the lake, drew a large number of entries. The standard was high and the competition was judged by ex-Guardian photographer, Alan Taylor.

Knutsford and District Lions Club is busy making preparations for its annual fundraising concert on Friday, October 3, at the Methodist Church, raising funds for Knutsford Lions charities. The Fish Lip Soup Big Band is back by popular demand to provide an entertaining evening of swing and jazz. Tickets cost £8 each and are available at Mr Simms Sweet Shoppe and the Heritage Centre. They are also available at the door on the night. All are welcome.

The ladies of Jodrell Side WI enjoyed a very pleasant day in August on their annual outing. They visited Hope House in Ashbourne and had a lively and entertaining talk on the wonderful collection of antique clothing that is on display there.

Several High Legh WI members visited Llanfairpwll in August recently and enjoyed a Treasure Hunt around Lymm with a meal afterwards at The Spread Eagle. They are hoping to repeat it again next year. The flowers from the Presidents table, arranged by Elaine Readitt were sent to Pat Brereton who has been in hospital.

Chairman, Chris Williams warmly welcomed members of Goostrey Flower club back after the summer break and reminded them that the October meeting will be preceded by the AGM at 11amfollowed by lunch and a demonstration by Joan Robinson entitled 'Create the WOW factor'. Tickets for lunch are £13.50.

JUDITH Adshead gave a report on Cheshire Show at the recent meeting of Lower Withington WI. Once again they did extremely well winning cups for Combined Class 1, Flowers Class 6 and the Middlewich Cup for the most points in staging and interpretation for Class 1 where they obtained 159 points out of 160; the first for any WI.

THE Friends of Tabley’s penultimate concert of the season was “An Evening with the Hallé Strings”. The duo comprised Sarah Ewins (co-principal violin) and Tim Pooley (viola), a real life duo as they are married.

KNUTSFORD Churches Together hosted a Pentecost Picnic on The Moor, joined by town mayor Councillor Neil Forbes and his wife mayoress Jacquelyn Forbes, with a large gathering of people enjoying food together on what was a glorious sunny afternoon.
