FOOD lovers and connoisseurs are being invited to taste the difference after a specialist cheese shop and cafe opened its doors in Knutsford this week.

The Cheese Yard, on King Street, will sell artisan cheeses and boutique wines, beers and ciders, while boasting a tasting cafe.

Customers will be able to enjoy a cheese platter with a glass of wine or a coffee in the shop, and is the brainchild of experienced business woman and foodie Sarah Peak.

As a member of the Guild of Fine Foods, Sarah has worked in the food industry in England and Ireland in retail and manufacturing.

Sarah said: “I’ve worked in buying and marketing for many years, and by far my most enjoyable time was when I was a cheese buyer.

“Coupled with my experience and my passion for good food and wine, I wanted to combine my knowledge and interests to set up my own business and ultimately achieve my dream.

“My vision is to establish a point of difference from the supermarkets, offering great service, selling locally-sourced, artisan products and creating an environment I would love to visit.

“People will come back again and again to buy cheeses that have been cared for, from the cheese-makers to The Cheese Yard.

“They are looked after by a team who are passionate about ensuring our cheeses reach our customers as they should.”

Customers will be encouraged to try the cheeses before they buy, alongside boutique wines that can be enjoyed on the premises.

The Cheese Yard is also set to host monthly cheese and wine evenings that offer the opportunity to showcase the range of gifts, including gift sets and hampers and gift vouchers available.

With the holiday season around the corner, The Cheese Yard will be represented at the Knutsford Christmas Market on November 30 and December 1.
