ENGLAND footballer Jack Grealish was caught speeding in a Range Rover.

The Manchester City midfielder, who has a home near Knutsford, must pay a £666 fine and has seen his licence endorsed with five penalty points after driving at 44mph on a 30mph road.

Grealish did not attend a four-minute sentencing hearing at Worcester Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (May 8), but pleaded guilty through his lawyer.

The 28-year-old’s barrister, John Dye, said of his client: “Mr Grealish means no discourtesy by not attending.

“I am instructed to enter a guilty plea on his behalf in relation to speeding.”

After confirming that the maximum penalty for the offence was £1,000, reduced to £666 after a guilty plea, Mr Dye told the court: “He can afford to pay that figure.

“I am asked to apologise on his behalf. It was a mistake.”

Grealish must also pay £110 in court costs and a victim surcharge of £266, leaving him with a total bill of £1,042.

The court heard how the Champions League winner was caught speeding in Worcestershire while driving a Range Rover Sport on the morning of July 13, 2023.

Prosecutor Andy Saunders said the vehicle was caught by a mobile speed camera travelling at 44mph on Station Road, Wythall, but there were no other aggravating factors.

The court was told Grealish had a full, clean driving licence at the time of the speeding offence.

A charge of failing to give information to the police relating to the identification of the driver was withdrawn.

During the hearing, Grealish’s address was given as being in Barnt Green, Worcestershire.

However, he is also known to live near Knutsford.

On December 27 last year, Cheshire Police deployed officers, dogs and a National Police Air Service helicopter following reports of a burglary at the footballer’s home.

The Sun newspaper reported at the time that thieves stole £1 million worth of jewellery and watches.

Grealish’s family, including fiancé Sasha Atwood, were in the house watching him play for City against Everton at the time and were left 'traumatised' by the incident.
