A POPULAR Cheshire festival combining science, music and the arts has been nominated for an award celebrating northern music.
Since launching in 2016, the bluedot festival at Jodrell Bank has welcomed some huge names in the worlds of music and science to the county - including Professor Brian Cox, astronauts Helen Sharman and Tim Peake, Björk, the Chemical Brothers, and New Order.
The festival is taking a fallow year in 2024 after last year's event was hit by the highest level of rainfall on bluedot weekend since records began.
Now bluedot has been nominated in the inaugural Northern Music Awards for the 'Favourite Festival of the Year' category.
Other Cheshire festivals nominated for the award include Daresbury's Creamfields and the Neighbourhood Weekender in Warrington.
The bluedot festival is no stranger to winning awards, having picked up the 'Best Medium-sized Festival' and 'Line-up of the Year' crowns at the UK Festival Awards 2019 and 2022 respectively.
The first Northern Music Awards is being held by music therapy charity Nordoff and Robbins and will recognise and celebrate the breadth of talent across northern England.
Taking place at the iconic Albert Hall in Manchester on April 23, the awards show will help to fundraise for the charity's vision to open a dedicated state-of-the-art music therapy centre based in Salford.
