A LATER life learning group is offering people a window into its activities.

As part of National u3a Week, the Holmes Chapel & District u3a is putting up a display in a window of the village's Tesco store.

From September 19, shoppers and passersby can get a glimpse at the activities available to u3a members.

Martin Elliott, vice-chairman of the group, said: “The display provides information about the range of walks we offer and highlights some of the theatre and other trips which are available to members.

"It also publicises the monthly meeting held at 10am on the third Thursday of each month at the Holmes Chapel Methodist Church – which is open to members and potential new members alike.

"From art to Zumba, our circa 60 groups offer something for everyone – to share experiences, activities, learning and to have fun.

"Since our open morning, we have welcomed more than 30 new members – bringing our total membership currently to more than 850 people.

"We will be pleased to welcome more new members from the local area, including people who are prepared to volunteer to start additional groups and help the committee to run our charity."

Membership, which costs just £10 for the year, is open to all who are no longer working full time and who live in Holmes Chapel, Goostrey and other adjacent parishes.

Members of other u3as are welcome to join us for £6 per year.
