HONG Quach is celebrating his first individual title as a Knutsford and District Amateur Snooker League player.
Hong, who turns out for Mere A, claimed the 2022-23 Rotary Cup title by defeating Shaw Heath’s Adam Griffiths in the final.
Having already scooped the 6-Reds and Parkers Removals Champions Trophy, Griffiths was on the brink of a clean sweep of individual titles but was beaten by a solid display of match snooker from Hong, who emerged a 2-0 victor at Wilmslow Conservative Club.
He had earlier beaten Mobberley’s Mark Newall 2-1 in the semi final.
In league competition, leaders Tatton A eased the pressure brought about by back-to-back losses by beating Wilmslow Cons A 5-2.
Pete Blain’s 105-point frame aided Tatton, who now require four points from their final game against Mobberley C to secure the title.
Second-placed Morley Green kept themselves alive by beating Mobberley C 5-2 – a win that included a 42 break from Keith Aldred and a 100-plus frame score from Graham Walls.
Elsewhere in the league, three-figure frame scores from Hank Pasquill and John Dale helped Mobberley B beat Tatton C 5-2 while Mere A beat Mobberley A by the same score.
There were two more 100-plus frame scores in that game, with Mere’s Alex McDonagh and Mobberley’s Adam McNeil in good form.
Cup finalists Shaw Heath were beaten 4-3 by Tatton B while Wilmslow Cons B were 5-2 winners over Mere C.
