IT is starting to look like nobody wants to win this year’s Knutsford and District Amateur Snooker League title.

Week 14 started with leaders Tatton A losing 6-1 to bottom of the table Mere C, a result that will have given the chasing pack hope of closing the cushion.

For the second week in a row though, Tatton’s nearest rivals all lost and so failed to take advantage.

Tatton A lead the table by five points from Morley Green followed by six other teams that are all within five points of second place.

Morley Green lost 5-2 to in-form Shaw Heath.

Last year’s champions Heath looked all but out of the running before the Christmas break but their fine form has moved them up to fourth in the table and they are now well and truly in the mix.

Shaun Brearly starred again with a 45 break and Adam Griffiths also made a 39 break.

Third place Mobberley A lost heavily 5-2 to Wilmslow Cons B, with Tom Lane scoring 108 points in his frame.

Wilmslow’s A team won by the same scoreline as their B team – their victory coming away to Tatton B.

Mobberley B came out on top 5-2 in the ‘derby’ match against their C team to leap-frog them in the table.

Tatton C defeated Mere A 4-3 in a close encounter that leaves the teams ninth and 10th in the table.

In the individual rankings, Mobberley’s Leung Yu lost his first frame of the season to bring his 11-frame winning streak to an end.

He still leads the way from last year’s winner Shaun Brearly (9W/3L), with Tony Jackson of Mere C also on nine wins.

There are a further 11 players on eight wins so there is still all to play for.

Results: Mere C 6 Tatton A 1, Mere A 3 Tatton C 4, Mobberley B 5 Mobberley C 2, Morley Green 2 Shaw Heath 5, Tatton B 2 Wilmslow Cons A 5, Wilmslow Cons B 5 Mobberley A 2.
