A KIND-HEARTED golf club is helping to save lives.
Last year’s captain and lady captain of Heyrose Golf Club in Knutsford put their skills to the test.
Captain Nick Shennen, from Middlewich, and lady captain Kathy Smith, from Pickmere, completed a challenge to get round 18 different golf courses across Cheshire and play one hole on each course.
The pair raised funds for Knutsford Community First Responders Trust (KRFCT) throughout 2022, as well as supporting the British Heart Foundation.
Tony Gear, from Sandbach, organised the event.
This week, the golfers presented £5,545 to the lifesaving first responders.
Since this charity was founded 20 years ago, volunteers have attended more than 6,000 emergency calls.
In addition, more than 4,000 residents have been trained to save the life of a cardiac arrest victim through free sessions.
Donations have also funded more than 600 heart screens to diagnose young adults who may have undetected heart issues.
Around 40 automated external defibrillators have also been installed.
Adrian Rees, chairman of KRFCE, said: “Our charity is entirely reliant on the generosity of the public and local organisations in funding all of our lifesaving services.
“The fantastic hard work of Nick, Kathy and Heyrose members in putting on all of their many sponsorship activities in support of us and the British Heart Foundation throughout 2022 has been exceptional.
“Nick and Kathy have worked tirelessly.
“Their enthusiasm in generating funds for us has been exceptional.
“This allows us to continue our support to the Knutsford community.
Clubs supporting the golf challenge included Antrobus, High Legh, Mere, Knutsford, Alderley Adge, Wilmslow, Vale Royal Abbey, Sandiway, Heyrose, Lymm, Prestbury, Tyehrington, Macclesfield, Congleton, Astbury, Malkins Bank and Sandbach.
