EGERTON FC’s cup run is giving their season a lift.

Saturday’s 3-2 success at Crewe FC saw them progress to the third round of the JB Parker Premier Division Challenge Cup.

Milan Thompson netted twice, with Sam Jackson also hitting the mark.

This was their first victory in six outings in all competitions.

Egerton currently sit 11th in the Cheshire League Premier Division table having won six and lost eight of their 14 outings so far.

This Saturday they are scheduled to host fifth-placed Altrincham Reserves, kick-off 2pm.

It will also be 11th versus fifth, albeit in one division below, when Knutsford FC entertain Newton Athletic on Saturday. Reds’ planned visit to Avon Villa last weekend was postponed.

CRICKET: A women’s team at Toft Cricket Club will break new ground next season.

For the first time, Toft TornaDoes will play in a hard-ball league.

They will feature in Cheshire Women’s Cricket League Division Four under the captaincy of Emma Moore, with Philippa Saunders as vice-captain and Emma Hamilton providing further support.

Under inaugural captain Christine Hamilton, who is considered to have done incredible work to establish the club’s women’s team, a third-place finish was achieved in the first soft-ball competition contested.

SNOOKER: Week nine of the 2022-23 Knutsford and District Amateur Snooker League saw table toppers Morley Green go up against fellow challengers Tatton A.

It was Tatton A who came out victorious with a fine 6-1 victory that included a 123-point frame from Tatton’s Phil Roden and a 34 break from Morley’s Arthur Faux.

Tatton A move up to second place, one point ahead of Morley who now sit third.

Tatton B now lead by a single point following their tight 4-3 victory over Mobberley B.

Mobberley’s B team remain in the top half of the table in sixth place and their C team lie in fourth place following their 5-2 victory over Mere C in the week’s only Tuesday game.

Mobberley A move up to a season-high fifth place following a strong 6-1 victory against Tatton C that contained ton plus scores for Bruce Tulley (his second consecutive) and Tatton’s Carl Prince.

Reigning champions Shaw Heath ended their run of defeats with an impressive 5-2 victory against seventh place Wilmslow Cons A and Wilmslow Cons B recorded their third straight victory against Mere A, aided by a 35 break from Jason Lawrence.
