TOMMY Fleetwood posted another solid round at the Olympic Games golf competition.

However, he still has plenty of work to do in the final two rounds if he is to get himself into medal contention.

The Holmes Chapel resident shot a two-under-par round of 69, including four birdies and two bogeys.

He finished his round on three under par for the tournament – seven shots behind the pace set by Mexico's Carlos Ortiz.

Fleetwood had a blemish-free front nine, including birdies on the sixth and eighth holes.

A bogey on 11 stalled his progress but back-to-back birdies on 14 and 15 raised his chances of a strong finish.

Just as in his first round, however, the 18th hole proved tricky as he finished with a bogey having double-bogeyed the final hole on Thursday.

With several players still to complete their second rounds, Fleetwood is currently in a tie for 25th place.
