NINE-year-old Lydia Hunter has smashed her fundraising target for children who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment.

Lydia, from Chelford, had 30 centimetres cut off her hair in aid of The Little Princess Trust.

The trust provides real hair wigs free of charge to children and young adults up to the age of 24 who have lost their hair as a result of cancer treatment and other illnesses.

Lydia had 30 centimetres cut off to donate to the trust, and was hoping to raise £500 for the organisation. In the event she is set to top the £700 mark.

Lydia is a pupil at Chelford Primary School, and had her hair cut at Toni and Guy in Knutsford, accompanied by her mum Danielle.

“Lydia is overwhelmed with the support she has received, and is so pleased that she has raised money and provided her own hair to a great cause,” said Danielle.

“We would like to thank everybody who has donated money and supported her in doing this, and would encourage people to help in any way they can by visiting littleprincesses.org.uk or donate by the link to the justgiving page.

“We would also like to thank the staff at Toni and Guy Knutsford, especially Steff, who cut her hair.”

The fundraising page is still open for anyone who wishes to donate - visit justgiving.com/fundraising/lydiahunters
