A MAJOR UK festival is teaming up with The Charlatans to bring more music and culture to Northwich during the band's town takeover in May.

As well as The Charlatans 10-day festival, Sound City Satellite, from the award-winning Sound City team, will be staging their own event to coincide with The Charlatans’ homecoming festival in Northwich.

The priority is to firmly place the spotlight on the musical, digital and creative talent in the north west, with Sound City Satellite, the team will take their model to key towns in the Liverpool and Manchester city regions and deliver a focused conference and live music programme.

This will shine a national and international spotlight on these towns and bring them into the wider business and cultural sphere.

The Charlatans and key stake holders from Northwich will deliver a programme of business and cultural activity that is both relevant and current.

The event will feature an exhibition showcasing rare Charlatans memorabilia, a week of live bands at The Salty Dog pub, film screenings, a vinyl record fair with around 40 different stalls and podcasts.

Craig Parkinson will be hosting the Two Show Podcast featuring Paddy Considine and author Dave Haslam individually.

The one-day event will take place in Barons Quay and there will be a conference during the day and a live music event in the early evening, featuring emerging artists from the north-west.

The day will culminate in a headline set from The Charlatans in Northwich Memorial Court, who will play their set without a support band.

Sound City will work with local stakeholders to offer ongoing training to enable young people to progress from training into employment within the music, arts and cultural sectors.

Northwich was the starting point for The Charlatans with their release of their debut single Indian Rope in 1990.

Since then the band have grown, played and moved around the globe and released thirteen albums, three reaching number one.

Their current album Different Days, features an array of creative friends, including Paul Weller, Johnny Marr, Sharon Horgan and Ian Rankin amongst others and entered the charts at Number five.

All ticketed events will go on sale on Saturday, March 3 through ticket platform Dice. This will ensure that the tickets are unavailable to secondary ticketing sites. Fans should go to the following link for tickets dice.fm/the-charlatans-northwich.
