A WEDDING venue in Plumley is hoping to add a retractable roof to a terrace area, making it fit for all seasons.
The Barn at Holford Hall currently features an open-air terrace, with artificial turf flooring, but plans have been submitted to erect a retractable roof structure complete with ‘full-height bi-folding doors’ around the outside.
The structure would be freestanding, with folding sliding doors which would retract ‘in a concertina fashion’.
A planning statement said: “The Barn features an artificial turf-covered terrace area to the north-west side.
“During functions a marquee is erected on this area to provide a sheltered outdoor space for guests’ use.
“Instead of this marquee, the proposal is to erect a retractable roof structure, complete with full-height bi-folding doors to the perimeter, which will allow the terrace to be fully enclosed or fully open.
“This will provide a more comfortable space for guests in all weather conditions.”
The skeleton of the structure would come to just over three metres tall, spanning 14-and-a-half metres in length.
Plans have been submitted to Cheshire East Council. Comments can be made by February 21, ahead of a target decision date of March 19.
