KNUTSFORDIANS have benefitted from a charitable campaign over the festive period, with hundreds of presents donated by the community as part of the ‘Be a Santa to a Senior’ scheme.

Home Instead Senior Care Northwich and Knutsford collected 410 gifts from shops including Sainsbury’s in Canute Place, and are already planning to roll it out again next year.

Once wrapped with the help of a Weaverham under 11s football team, hampers and gifts were donated to The Welcome Cafe as well as St John’s Church.

They were also handed out at Christmas parties organised by AGE UK Cheshire, The Salvation Army Winsford, and Community Compass.

Home Instead Northwich and Knutsford general manager Carolynne Favager said: “There are many older people living in our local community who don’t receive regular visits. We wanted to reach out to them with the help of our ‘Be a Santa to a Senior’ campaign, which let them know that someone was thinking about them this Christmas.

“We are so grateful to everyone who donated presents. We are overwhelmed with how generous the local community is, and next year, we plan on making the gift giving scheme even bigger.”
